It can be really daunting commissioning a designer and not a lot of people are sure what the process is but I want to reassure you no project is too big or small. Here are some of the steps I usually take with new clients.
Listen
Every project starts with an informal chat over coffee - my priority is to get to know you, your business and what you need. This is when you let me know your concerns, your hopes and goals and most of the time it turns into a bit of a natter about life!
Plan
I keep you in the loop at all stages of the process. That means planning each stage from the beginning of briefing, working within deadlines and approving all steps before work begins. It is always a good idea to get on the same page and make sure both of us understand the brief and get all of the nit-picky details sorted from the very start so that we can then dive into the exciting part next!
Design Magic
This is the part when I bring your hopes and my imagination together to create something great. Many people think design is just about pretty pictures but it’s about solving problems and telling your story in order to connect in a personal and memorable way. We work with illustrations, layouts, photography, typography, webpages, icons, text -
you name it! - in order to make something great.
Feedback
Throughout the process I like to get your input because at the end of the day you know your business better than anyone. I love to share ideas and explain the reasoning behind each design decision and this lets you see how everything is working to deliver your goals. We always like to do a final check with you that every detail is right before we send you final files.
The Finish Line
Once all the final details are ironed out and final files are sent, you are ready to release your final design materials to the world! At this point hopefully you are super excited and confident showing off your new assets. To me this isn’t the end however, I have clients who keep coming back after the first, second, third projects. This way you work with a designer you trust and I work with clients I know at a personal level and together we can make sure your business keeps evolving and reaching new customers.
